A little insight

After we further discussed the culture of the Igbo, it gave me insight of different cultures. What may seem unusual to us may be completely normal for others. I believe most people today are so ignorant of other cultures because of the influences of media, friends, and uneducated assumptions. I still see Okonkwo as an hero. Although some of his actions seem savage to us, it is perfectly fine for the Igbo culture. He is not necessarily a hero that people around the world would be able to recognize but he definitely is a hero in his community. Basically what I'm trying to get at is that people should give other cultures a break. Just because it doesn't seem "normal" to us it doesn't mean what they do is wrong and they should be punished for it. Instead we should all be more understanding that there ARE other cultures and none of them are more superior than others.
